laundry day

I love getting out of the shower and having a clean towel. I also love having clean sheets and underwear. And what I really love is those few short hours after I've done my laundry when my blankets on the couch aren't covered with dog hair. What I don't love is having to do my laundry at a laundromat. It looks like the fiancee and I will be living with laundromats for the next 8 months or so, which will probably drive me crazy, as I am very tired of having to pack up all my dirty laundry when I need a clean shirt. We have good reasons to not move somewhere with a washer and dryer, but I am looking forward to the day when I will have my own washer and dryer, and even better, my own laundry room. A girl can dream, right?

by the sea

Life has been all over the place lately. From preparing my 18 third graders for standardized testing which begins in 15 days, to trying to pick out shoes for the bridesmaids...things have been a bit crazy. No scrapping has been done in about 2 weeks and it's starting to get to me. I might pull out my stuff tonight and play around. Especially because sweet Jessica, my scrap pal, sent me some great stuff. School is slowly beginning to feel like there's a light at the end of the tunnel, and this past Saturday marked the 3 month mark 'til the wedding. 88 days from now, to be more precise. I can't believe how fast the engagement is going. Craziness!

In an attempt to get out and relax this weekend, the fiancee and I took Layla to a local nature preserve on the beach. It was a gorgeous, warm day, and I even got a little sunburn on my shoulders. You won't hear me complaining though. I was grateful for the sunshine after so many rainy days.
My favorite part of the trip was finding sea glass. This beach is pretty secluded, and the amount of sea glass in the sand is just amazing. I told my fiancee that I felt like I was doing a puzzle the way I was scanning the ground as we walked, looking for the perfect pieces.

Off to enjoy some television and possibly some scrapping. Oh...and cutting out laminate for school. Yuck. Happy Monday!

tulips & monuments

I had a pretty wonderful weekend. I got to be touristy in our nation's capital. Got to see lots of tulips in Washington DC's tulip library. Had food in a diner at 2 am. Stayed up till 3 am. Picked out shoes for my bridesmaids. Ate some wonderful Thai food prepared by a friend who is a much better chef than me. Frolicked in the pouring rain. But most importantly, I got to see old, wonderful, true friends. It was a nice weekend away....but I won't lie. I really missed my fiancee and Layla. The two of them spent their weekend together having fun going on hikes and taking naps together. It was nice coming home to a wagging tail and kisses!(I took pictures in front of the monuments to show my kids.)

Hope your week is off to a good start. Mine started well, as I took the day off after my busy weekend of traveling. This meant I got to get some extra sleep, catch up on reading, enjoy a nice lunch out with my fiancee, and now I feel very ready to tackle another week of school!

a dog story

Layla, my plott hound mutt of a dog, is quite simply, the love of my life. I got her back in August from a friend involved with dog rescue, and she is the world's greatest, most spoiled companion. Yesterday we visited a neighborhood dog park and she found a friend.
Layla would be the lazy one on the ground. This was a quick pause in the midst of a serious wrestling match. Layla put up a good fight, but the pit bull seemed to have an edge over Layla.

I just got my package of Pink Paislee goodies from Stacey at AMR. Insert lots of smiling here!!! I got the full set of Office Lingo and Spring Fling papers. They're all so pretty...I kinda want to letthem sit a little longer before playing with them! And in true Stacey fashion, she sent along a few extra goodies in my order...including these darling blinged out puppies!

Feeling very inspired and thinking I might try to do some organizing and cleaning tonight. This is a rare feeling so I better get started!

deleted scenes

This is a deleted scene from Thursday night's episode. I am so happy this show is back on the air. The past 4 and half months have been so lonely.

cheap find of the week!

At first glance at the picture above, you are probably thinking "Thickers". The amazing stickers that is better than a sticker from American Crafts. That's exactly what I thought when I found these foam stickers at THE DOLLAR TREE. That's right. Each of these thicker look alikes cost me just $1. What a find! They are pretty much identical to the foam thickers and come in multiple fonts and colors. I "only" bought 8 packages. And the best part is, you can't even buy 2 packs of thickers for $8! Hopefully your Dollar Tree will carry these great finds!

busy bee

This week has been a little crazy since it's back to school for me. BUT, there is good news. I think it's safe to say that this was my best week of school with the kids all year. Our first day back, Monday, was a little rough, but the rest of this week has been great. They have listened to directions (well...at least the best they could), they did their work, and they even made me laugh. It's taken months to get this far, but it's rewarding to see that progress really is being made. Being a first year teacher is scary and exhausting and sometimes just plain crazy, but this past week, while not perfect, it made me realize that this is a job I want to do. I do love it and I can do it. For the first time all year, I didn't feel like a failure...and that is where the reward was. Knowing that I actually made a difference this week.

In addition to going back to school this week, I have become a pro at fencing on Mario and Sonic at the Olympics for Wii. I am never able to beat my fiancee at anything on the Wii, but it looks like I may have found where my talent is. Also made a few LO's this week, started a silly girly book that I am really enjoying, visited a local farmer's market and bought local honey and peanuts, and got a RAK from Nicole! Not only is it all beautiful stuff, but it's all stuff I've never seen in any of my local shops. Thank you Nicole!!! See picture below for all the goodies this girl sent me!

Now I am off to get organized for the AMR crop this afternoon on the message board. Excited to do some scrapping on this rainy day!

(Seriously...isn't she awesome! This RAK is great!)
