wedding update

I have been a horrible blogger lately. I hate to say it, but it's kinda been the last thing on my mind. But, cut me a little slack. I am a busy bride to be with just 3 more days until my big day! I'm not perfect.

I've had a lot of emails and messages lately asking how it's all going. Asking if I am nervous yet. Asking if I have still have lots to do. You get the idea. To be very honest, it's going well! Things are essentially done and ready to go. My amazing mother has helped me get all of the things done that we decided to make, and these last few days we are mainly just making sure all our ducks are in a row!

Want a little peak into the wedding central that is our house right now?

The favors...a personalized CD

Working on the programs
Programs are done! This is the finished product!
Presents for the bridesmaidsThe glasses my parents used at their wedding for the toast in 1981. We put some new ribbon on them and are planning on using them at our wedding!

Napkins!

Crazy to think how fast this has all gone by. Back when it was all 200+ days away, I thought it would never get here. And now we're here! Just 3 days away. And I am way more excited than I am nervous. Cannot wait!

5 things from Etsy

5 things I want from Etsy right now:

1.

How cute is this necklace? I am already imagining how cute it will look with many of my tops...

2.
My last name will be changing soon, and I think this is only appropriate to hang on our walls in our apartment.

3. I ordered another wristlet from Jennalou a few weeks ago for a friend's birthday. I think it's time to order one for myself!

4.I am kind of a stationary whore...I have way more than anyone person should have. But when it's personalized and this pretty, it really makes me think I need it!

5.I am just imagining this hanging over my desk. It's not only beautiful, but practical too!

lazy saturdays

I am glad that I have pool to go to everyday. It is making me not only turn into a lazy pool bum, but it's also been a big help in my effort to achieve a great tan before the wedding.

Speaking of weddings, guess what I'll be doing two weeks from this very moment? It's gonna be pretty great. Especially my five tiered cake, where each layer is a different flavor. This is probably what I am looking forward to most....with the exception of that whole "being married" thing. And before I finish up my weddings ramble, I want to share this awesome wedding blog: snippets & ink. Even if you're not planning a wedding, check it. The photos are always beautiful and inspiring.

Hope you've had a nice Saturday. Layla tried to escape on her walk tonight when we saw a rabbit, but after some running around like a crazy person, I was able to get her back. Other than that, my day has been a bore. But a relaxing bore, at least.

walks

Who doesn't love a nice walk in the summer after a great dinner?

My little brother and the puppies were great companions on our little after dinner walk. Man, they're cute. The dogs that is. I don't think the 13 year old would appreciate being referred to as "cute".

top 10

It's been a whole week since my last post. Things are starting to get pretty crazy around here now that the wedding is just 17 (well, technically 16 now!) days away. Things are coming together, but it's been crazy, to say the least! I'll do a top ten in the life of Rachel to sum up the past week.
  1. Went to visit the fiancee for the weekend and to celebrate 4th of July. We had a great weekend together. Looking forward to being back down there full time.
  2. Let Layla swim around in the kiddie pool at the dog park, and let her pretend to swim in the river. She's too much of a chicken to really swim, instead she just paws at the water and puts her head under.
  3. Picked up the wedding bands!! And picked up my engagement ring which had been resized. It's so sparkly and for the first time since I got it in December, it fits without feeling tight!
  4. Signed paperwork for my new job! I am getting pretty excited for a new year, in a new school, with new people!
  5. Went with my little brother to buy a Wii! He has a pet sitting service and has been saving his money like crazy, and last week he finally managed to get a Wii. I think it says a lot about a 13 year old who has that kind of work ethic and ability to save his money. Very proud of my little bro.
  6. RSVP's....for anyone who has ever planned any event, large or small, you know how crazy and frustrating RSVP's can be. You send out 130 invites, and only 75% come back. Not very fun. This past week has consisted of a lot of phone calls, emails, and messages to friends and family to find out if they're planning on attending.
  7. Pico de Gallo...I used Pioneer Woman's recipe to make this yummy treat (and it was DELISH), but ran into a few problems with the jalapenos. My nose and hands both had a serious reaction, but all was well thanks to the fiancee who was able to remedy the problems with some milk. Pictures were taken that involved my nose dipped in milk, but I don't think I'll be sharing those for all to see. Try bribing me and we'll see what I can do.
  8. Watched this drama and this romantic comedy, and I loved them both!
  9. Watched a lot of this, courtesy of my parents' DVR. By a lot, I am talking about 20-25 episodes. I know...I need to find better ways to fill my time. But I am seriously addicted to the chaos that is this family's everyday life. My mother can't stand when I watch it. She complains about all the screaming in the background, but it really just enthralls me. I don't know how they do it.
  10. And finally, went last night to have my bridal portraits done. We had them done at the location of where the reception will be held and I am so anxious and excited to see how they turn out! Our photographer was so great, and after our long session yesterday, I am more than confident that she will do a fabulous job at the wedding! We were there for a little over 2 hours, and it made everything start to feel a little more real since I had the dress on with the jewelry, the shoes, the makeup, the pretty hair. The real thing is going to be here soon!
Hope that's enough of an update...I'll try to do better this week!

wedding program sneak peek

So I promised a sneak peek at my handmade wedding programs in my last post. Before I got started on these, I thought I might be crazy for undertaking this project, but I am loving the way that they're turning out, and quite pleased with myself! My mom and I have been hard at work, and the finished product is going to look great!

Ever wondered what 200 sheets of brown Bazzill looks like after being punched with a Martha Stweart border punch? Here's a look:
My poor hands and elbows! 200 sheets is a LOT! Luckily though, I bought 2 punches and my mom was able to help me get through it all. We messed up a few, but I can now call each of us a pro at this whole border punch thing!

Now as for the rest of the peeks, these are all bits and pieces of the program being worked on...can't wait to post the whole thing when we're all done!

Eek! According to my countdown widget (ps I am still LOVING my new macbook), we're down to 24 days, 16 hours, 33 min, and 19 seconds!!
