2011 Goals

I'm keeping it simple this year...
  • Read at least 12 books
  • Practice patience with my students
  • Putting my personal life before my job AND remembering that my job and the things that happen there are minimal in the big picture
  • Less alcohol and caffeine, more water
  • More handwritten notes to family and friends
  • Less clutter and more organization (this is for you J!)

I could go into lots of details about each of these, but I wanna keep it easy. These 6 things are where I want to invest my time and effort this year.

What are you hoping to accomplish this year?

  1. I find that with #6 (less clutter and more organization) - all the other things will just "fall into place"!! Seriously! Mine is simple too: Prioritizing :-) By prioritizing, hopefully life will just be simpler!

    Happy 2011!

  2. I think those all sound like smart (and reasonable) goals! Your one about work really struck me. I don't mean to brag, but I have always made an effort not to let school/teaching consume me. I have lots of family members who were teachers and I remember to boldly how they were always consumed with work. Grading, planning, cleaning/organizing, etc. I spent my first year consumed, but now (especially that I'm married, have dogs, have a house, have a baby) I honestly leave when my contract is done and don't bring things with me. I feel so much better about myself than I did that first year when I was in my classroom the WHOLE day!

That got long, anyhow, good luck on your goals! :) Feel free to blog about that clutter and organization one, I need all the help I can get in that department!

  3. I need to work on #3 big time. I've been trying to figure out recently if it's a "me problem" (i.e. I'd always put my job first) or a "work problem" (my current job demands that I put it first) and I am sadly coming to the conclusion that I think it's a little of both but mostly a work problem. And since I know that probably won't change, it means the only solution is to think about switching which is so time consuming I get overwhelmed. Anyway, that's a hard one for a lot of people!

  9. Simple goals always seem to work better for me! I am with you on the less clutter/more organization one. My goals for 2011 are to not get overwhelmed (esp. with wedding planning!) and to be better at budgeting. Happy New Year!

  15. I love these!

Your #1 is on my list too.

I love decluttering and organzing. I'd totally organize your closet if I lived close by. Ha!

You know what's crazy about cutting back on caffine and alcohol is that when you start back up, it totally effects you more. After not drinking for 4 months, I'm practically wasted off 1 glass of wine.
