life right now

Right now we are....

...busy dirtying diapers and changing diapers.

...prepping for our first Thanksgiving with little M. It's also our first Thanksgiving that we are hosting. J's parents are coming to join us later in the week, and I've been busy picking out recipes for sides while J has taken charge of the turkey. Hopefully it'll be a success.

...enjoying all the wonderful food that so many friends have been bringing us. And on nights when we don't have meals brought to us, we're enjoying one of the many meals my mom left for us in our freezer.

...learning the ins and out of this little person who has been added to our family. Some things we know about her after 3 weeks: she doesn't like being cold and naked, she loves her pacifier, and she can't keep socks on her feet to save her life.

...baby wearing; we love our Ergo and K'tan. K'tan seems to be perfect for around the house, Ergo is awesome for running errands. Still need to try out our Moby.

...attempting to start our Christmas shopping. Sort of wishing I had started this before M arrived. This might be the year of gift cards.

...preparing for birthday week! J and I both celebrate birthdays at the end of the month. However, this year's celebrations will likely be very low key. Our celebrating will probably include some take out and a couple of bottles of beer.

  2. Exciting time for sure! I'm impressed you're hosting!! I'm hosting too but I have delegated the food out like crazy. I'm only down for a pie and Brad turkey and potatoes.
We got all of our Christmas shopping complete as of this weekend but we did a lot of gift cards too :)

  3. Gift cards were definitely the best option the Christmas after my little ones were born. That and shopping on Amazon :)

  4. The ONLY socks that would (and still will) stay on L's chunky feet are ones with short ribbing around the ankle - almost like little running socks. No foldover, no socks that pull up past the ankle. Carter's makes some, as does Hanes (Target). Like so:

  6. She's so sweet and precious!

You are awesome for hosting Thanksgiving like a month after having a baby! I didn't want to do anything at that time lol. I had a hard time traveling with my almost 6 month old last Thanksgiving since there were 2 big dogs at the house!

  8. Oh she is precious! Please pretty please do a post with your Mom's recipes for stocking a freezer before a new baby arrives. I desperately need ideas because I will not have any family that live close enough to help me after the birth and it would help to make those meals ahead of time.
Thank you!!!! And Happy first Thanksgiving to your sweet girl!
