Baby Brother - 24 Weeks

Like I mentioned before, I don't think I'm going to do weekly updates with this pregnancy, but I do want to update from time to time for posterity's sake!

Picture was taken Monday when I was 23w4d

How Far Along: 24 weeks today

Size of Baby:  Around 11 inches!

Total Weight Gain: Way more than I'm happy to admit. I'm up about 15lbs. C'est La Vie.

Gender: BOY!

Movement: I have an anterior placenta this time around, so I was expecting way less movement, but I honestly haven't found that's the case. I really do feel him a lot, and J and M have each felt him a couple of times. The movement started very low, but it has begun to work it's way up and it's started to spread out all over my belly. And Tuesday was the first time I could see the movement from the outside. This is definitely the highlight of being pregnant to me! I love feeling the baby!

Sleep: It is definitely better this pregnancy. I occasionally get up at night to pee, but for the most part, I am sleeping solid 7-8 hours a night. I do wake up achey  from sleeping on my sides, but I'll take that over insomnia.

Maternity Clothes: Is there any question? I've been in almost all maternity clothes for quite some time now.

Symptoms: Round Ligament pain, a pinched nerve in my lower back that hurts on and off, and some really mild heartburn has started in the evenings. Also sweating. I sweat so so much more when I'm pregnant and this heat wave that has been here for 10+ days needs to GO.

Cravings: Everything. I am constantly hungry. Hence the 15 pound weight gain.

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach.

Comparisons to First Pregnancy: Overall, still quite different. Still no major debilitating rib and upper back pain like last time. I'm definitely bigger (in size and weight) than I was the first go round, and I'm feeling that difference, but for the most part, I'm doing pretty good. Some similarities to last time....terrible skin and acne, very strong and fast growing finger nails

Weekly Highlight: Definitely seeing my belly move from the outside! Also scheduling M's big sister tour at our hospital...she talks about the hospital stay  and visiting mommy and the baby in the hospital all the time now, so I think it'll be good for her to get to go and tour it beforehand so she can visually imagine where she'll be meeting him in October.

What I'm looking forward to: Maybe some cooler temperatures in our 7 day forecast!? I hope they don't change!

  1. You look so good! Love that Maggie is so excited about the tour, too cute! And yes please cooler days!

  2. You look fantastic!! My round ligament pain with my second pregnancy was horrible! It would stop me in my tracks most days. I'd also wake up with numb hands - isn't pregnancy crazy weird?!

  3. I think you said this before but I can't remember. Do y'all have a name picked? I think you said you wouldn't share until he was born but just curious if it is already decided. We could never agree - we were in the hospital with both kids before we had names. It's weird to see other parts of the country in a heat wave when it's been a mild summer so far in Texas - I think we've had one day above 95* so far - mostly in the 88-92* range for highs - NUTS and WONDERFUL! Hope y'all get some relief!

  4. Aww that's so fun M gets to a big sister tour!! I want some cooler weather, and I'm not even pregnant...hang in there! You loo fantastic!

  5. The big sister tour was so fun and so heartbreaking at the same time. That's when it really hit us that Molly was the big kid. (She WAS three and a half, so there's that!) Not sure where you're delivering, but Presby does the big sibling class too where they get to hold a baby doll, get shown what kinds of toys are appropriate for babies, and they swaddle the baby dolls at the end. It was really sweet - and really helpful too! Molly actually remembered a lot of what the child life specialist told them. This is such an exciting time for your family!

  6. I've heard boys move more, but that comes from the same people that said other crazy things to me (cafeteria ladies lol). By the last few months I had to drive with one hand pushing the baby out of my rib cage!
